Stefano Lilipaly (born 10 January 1990) is a footballer who plays for Eerste Divisie club Almere City as a midfielder.[1] Born in the Netherlands to a Dutch mother and Indonesian father, Lilipaly represented his country of birth at youth level. He became eligible to play for the Indonesia national team in 2011.

Club career

Lilipaly played for Dutch amateur club RKSV DCG for three years before joining AZ in 2000.[2] A year later, he signed with Utrecht and progressed through their youth system.[2] He made his first team debut in a 0–0 Eredivisie draw at VVV-Venlo on 6 August 2011.[3] He made his first start on 22 January 2012 and scored the opening goal in a 1–1 draw with PSV.[4][5]

International career

Lilipaly represented the Netherlands at youth level, from under-15 to under-18.[2] He was eligible to represent the Netherlands or Indonesia at senior international level through his parents – his mother is Dutch and his father is Indonesian.[2] He took the Indonesian citizenship oath on 10 October 2011,[6] alongside four other players, to make him officially eligible to represent Indonesia.[7][8][9]
